Each year we strive to donate not only monetarily, but our time and volunteer hours throughout the community to benefit numerous charities, groups and national organizations.

Retired Providence Police and FOP Member Lou Stravato has a special place in his heart for Special Olympics RI and shared this story with us.

We are happy to spread the success story and achievements that were accomplished by these young dedicated men and women who participated.

We all could learn something from them about dedication, pride and above all heart.

This past Friday the the Special Olympics RI, Providence Police Mt. Pleasant Kilties powerlifting team coached by myself and Brian Smith walked away with the flowing medals:

  • Mona: gold medal in bench, deadlift, and total (3 gold)

  • Tianna: bronze medal in bench, deadlift, and total (3 bronze)

  • Tomas: gold medal in bench, deadlift, and total (3 gold)

  • Lisberto: gold in bench, silver in deadlift and total (1 gold, 2 silver)

  • Mateo:  fourth place in bench, deadlift, and total (3 ribbons)

Total of 7 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze, 3 ribbons for 15 awards.
